War for Westeros Heroes
Every hero PlaySide has confirmed for War for Westeros so far, from Robb Stark and Jon Snow to the Mountain and Arya Stark, plus how leveling works.
Quick answer
Heroes are tactical battlefield pieces, not only story cameos. PlaySide confirms three functions: heroes can level up, unlock abilities, and strengthen nearby armies, and says each one has “unique abilities that can shift the tide of battle.”
The announced roster is no longer empty. On 26 August 2026 PlaySide revealed Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane and Arya Stark at GameStar’s Find Your Next Game showcase. They join the heroes already shown. Those are Robb Stark, Jon Snow, Ghost, Grey Wind, Jaime Lannister, Tywin Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen and the Night King. The same announcement calls this “an ever expanding roster of playable heroes”, so expect more names before launch.

Treat this as an announcement list, not a balance sheet. PlaySide has not published hero costs, cooldowns, ability trees or which faction each hero is locked to. The official list also groups the direwolf names Ghost and Grey Wind together without explaining their role.

A practical positioning checklist
- Identify which group needs the hero’s support before the fight starts.
- Keep the hero close enough to contribute, but behind a protected line.
- Move with the army when the objective changes instead of chasing a single target.
- Record what an ability changes—movement, damage, defense, control or another effect—once a playable build exposes it.
- Compare the hero’s value before and after the first engagement; do not judge from a trailer frame.

What is still unproven
A name on the roster is not a finished skill sheet. Recognisable characters also appear in campaign material without being playable. PlaySide has not published which heroes belong to which faction, how heroes are recruited in the campaign, or how they interact with the different modes. Community tier lists, ability guesses and matchup charts should stay separate from the official list until PlaySide publishes details.
