War for Westeros Heroes: Leveling and Army Abilities
Understand the confirmed War for Westeros hero system: leveling, ability unlocks, nearby army buffs, and what is still unknown before launch.
Heroes are more than character cameos in War for Westeros. PlaySide’s Development Update confirms that faction heroes can level up, unlock abilities and strengthen nearby armies. That makes hero growth and positioning part of the RTS battle plan.
Three confirmed functions
- Leveling: heroes can level up during the game.
- Abilities: progression unlocks new abilities.
- Army influence: heroes strengthen nearby troops, so distance and timing matter.
Official visuals include recognizable figures such as Jon Snow and Tywin Lannister, but a character appearing in promotional material is not automatically proof of a complete playable skill sheet. No public page currently provides final cooldowns, ranges, costs or a full hero roster.
Practical preparation
When the game launches, track whether an ability changes movement, damage, defense, morale or control of a key area. Keep a hero close enough to the army that receives the benefit, but do not expose it to a bad engagement simply to chase a buff. These are sensible testing questions, not confirmed numerical rules.
